Since 2002, the Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff has been a summer staple at Heritage Port in Downtown Wheeling. The event — always held the first Saturday in June — features live music on the riverfront, a classic car show and plenty of food and drinks for the whole family to enjoy. Attendees can buy tasting tickets to sample the dozens of chilis and salsas prepared by the contestants. Cooks can enter in a variety of categories and the event is an official International Chili Society (ICS) competition. Proceeds from the chili cookoff benefit the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.
