Posted in News on June 27, 2024 Totally 80’s Axetravaganza 2024

On Friday, May 24, 2024, The United Way and Route 40 Lumber Jaxe hosted their very first Axetravaganza! Who doesn’t love the 80’s and dressing up every once in a while?! We had over 100 attendees who purchased tickets! Activities included, axe throwing, pool, shuffle boarding, and the photo booth. We also had fan favorite, Tongue N’ Cheek who performed some outrageous 80’s classics for our guests! To conclude the evening, we awarded a prize for best dressed 80’s theme! All proceeds from this event went straight to our annual campaign, “Raised Here, Stays Here.” The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley supports 26 nonprofits including the Girl Scout’s scholarship awards, Dental Clinic for Wheeling Health Right, and the YMCA. This year, we were able to grant $500,000 to these organizations!

We want to thank all of our volunteers and attendees for coming out to support The United Way, throw some axes, and head bang to Tongue N’ Cheek with us!

Thank you to Tongue N’ Cheek for performing for us!

Huge thank you to Nick Arno who supplied the photo booth for the event!

Special thanks to Route 40 Lumber Jaxe for hosting our first Axetravaganza!

Are you looking for a place to donate money to charity in the upper Ohio Valley, but aren’t sure where there is the biggest need?

We can help you give local. The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley is the communities’ giving plan. Our team of committees and board members not only do the “checks and balances” to fund the programs that hit biggest needs in our community, but they also make sure that nonprofit donations we receive are going the furthest they can to improve lives in this community.
