On June 1, 2024, the City of Wheeling hosted its 24th Annual Chili Cookoff at Heritage Port.

Chili Cookoff

More than 30 chili cooks participated including commercial, restaurant, individual, and youth. The chefs made their chili from scratch at the cookoff and later submitted cups for judging. The judging categories included, veggie, home-style, Verde (a green chili), and Texas style chili.  This flavor-filled event was presented by the City of Wheeling and sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Entertainment was also provided throughout the day by The Trainjumpers as well as a car cruise for attendees to enjoy on 12th and Water Streets. The United Way sold tasting tickets to attendees and all those proceeds went directly to our organization. We raised a total of $8,777 this year!

The winner of each category is on their way to compete in the 2024 International Chili Society’s World Cookoff happening in September in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

We would like to thank all of the chefs who competed in the cookoff, all the chili was so delicious and your talent and effort is greatly appreciated, especially for enduring the heat! We would also like to thank those who volunteered at the cookoff and all of our attendees! A special thanks to Rose Humway-Warmuth (Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff Committee Chair) for successfully running the cookoff every year, we appreciate your hard work and dedication to make this event possible. Thank you to the City of Wheeling for hosting the Annual Chili Cookoff. We had an awesome turnout this year and the cookoff is always a special time for the community!

We would like to thank our event sponsor, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal.
