Match Madness 2023 LogoThe 3rd annual Match Madness promotion kicks off today.  This partnership between the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley and Bordas & Bordas means that every dollar donated to the United Way in the month of March is matched up to $15,000. This year brings a fun new twist to the campaign. Anyone who donates from March 1st through March 16th will be entered into a drawing for two front-row tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters on March 22nd, along with two magic passes. The magic passes allow for an interactive experience prior to the game, where you can interact with the players, shoot hoops, and get autographs. The winner will be drawn on March 17th. Another new aspect of this year’s campaign will be the Match Madness donor bracket. The first 125 donors will be entered into the Match Madness bracket and will be eligible for a drawing that will happen at the end of March for an overnight stay at Wilson Lodge at Oglebay.

“We had a significant number of new donors through Match Madness last year,” said Staci Stephen, Executive Director of United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.  “This promotion doubles your donation, and you have a chance to win a couple of great prizes.  We are hoping to see the same success this year.”Match Madness 2023 Staci and Jaime

Traditionally, donations average approximately $5,000 at the United Way for the month of March. However last year this Match Madness partnership with Bordas & Bordas helped to make it a big month for the annual campaign. More than $16,000 was donated through the promotion, exceeding the goal of $15,000 and bringing in over $31,000 total.

This year’s campaign is themed “Raised Here. Stays Here.” because donations to the United Way stay local. The United Way funds over 30 programs that support community members in Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler, and Belmont Counties.  Beyond that, the United Way is at the forefront of advocating for nonprofit organizations in the Ohio Valley, promoting giving and encouraging volunteerism.

“Bordas & Bordas is proud to partner with the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for the third annual Match Madness campaign,” managing partner of Bordas & Bordas, Jamie Bordas, said. “Giving back to our community is very important, and we look forward to matching the donations that allow us to help give back to community members in need.”

When you donate to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley Annual Campaign, you are supporting agencies that help children who need extra support, the elderly who need assistance, and families who have fallen on hard times. Making a financial contribution to our nonprofit agency in northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio introduces knowledge, companionship, activity, and help to our neighbors in Brooke County, Ohio County, Marshall County, Wetzel County, Tyler County, Belmont County, and Monroe County. Every donation is vital to the success of our mission, and we thank you for anything you can give.
