Throughout August, we had the incredible opportunity to support local communities by distributing shoes across Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler, and Belmont counties. In total, we served 461 families, providing over 1,000 children with brand-new pairs of shoes just in time for the new school year. This effort was truly a community-wide endeavor, and we couldn’t have achieved this milestone without the dedicated support of our volunteers and sponsors.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the numerous volunteers who contributed their time and energy. Special recognition goes to Bella Rine, Morgan Miehle, Helene Crall, Maddie Miehle, and Gabbie Blake from Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Their enthusiasm and hard work in organizing and distributing the shoes made a significant impact. We also want to thank Miley and Jackson Rine from Our Lady of Peace School, whose assistance was invaluable. Additionally, Bobbi Anderson and Charlotte Hamrick from Covestro played a crucial role in making the distribution process smooth and efficient.

We are also deeply grateful to our 2024 Lace Up for Kids Sponsors for their generous support. A big thank you to WTOV9, Covestro, Comcast, Chase Bank, EQT, and Cardinal Operating Company. Your commitment to this cause has made it possible for us to provide essential support to so many children in need. Your contributions are a testament to the power of community and the difference we can make when we work together.

Thank you once again to everyone who played a part in this initiative. Your efforts have ensured that many children can step into the new school year with confidence and comfort!

Are you looking for a place to donate money to charity in the upper Ohio Valley, but aren’t sure where there is the biggest need?

We can help you give local. The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley is the communities’ giving plan. Our team of committees and board members not only do the “checks and balances” to fund the programs that hit biggest needs in our community, but they also make sure that nonprofit donations we receive are going the furthest they can to improve lives in this community.
