Posted in News on July 31, 2017 Help needed in flood recovery

Volunteers, Supplies and Monetary donations.

As many of you know several counties have been devastated with flooding over the past two weeks.  We are trying to help those that have lost so much. We are in contact with our member agencies, The American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Wheeling Health Right, to see what needs or gaps there are.

Needs that have been voiced are volunteers for clean up, cleaning supplies (bleach, buckets, mops, brooms, paper towels, etc.)  as well as food items for the Salvation Army canteen.  Food supplies could be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, crackers, Gatorade, pizza, to go box food items.

If you would like to volunteer,  the American Red Cross needs will be: manning a shelter, mobile feeding, drivers to drive around areas for assessment, distribution of disaster kits as well as some administrative duties.  To sign up with them go directly to www.redcross.org and click volunteer.

The main counties we are focusing on at this time will be Marshall and Wetzel, however, there may still be some needs in Ohio County as well.

If you have food or cleaning supplies to donate you can drop those off at the Salvation Army, 140 16th Street, Wheeling, WV  26003.  They have a truck that will be delivering to the locations in need. Salvation Army could also use volunteers to work in the canteen.
